I'd try Caneston cream/Caneston Combi/Coneston Duo. It sounds like you may have vaginal thrush. You don't tend to feel thrush symptoms inside which is why you're only feeling it on the outside...relieving the itch can cause you to become red and swollen and hence make it painful when you urinate. The treatments I mentioned can be bought over-the-counter and should really help!

hi,
i am a doctor..
this could be due to several things..

1.some kind of infection- is there any kind of discharde?
a discharge may be suggestive of an infection
infections can be due to bacteria, fungi or parasites.

2.an allergy to your underwear or any cream you are aplying to the are- this specially can cause itching

3.if you have pain while passing urine, this could even be a urine infection.women are more prone to get urine ifenctions than men.

anyway, i feel you should goto a doctor..some examination of the are is necessary before giving any medicine or any simple lifestyle modofocation.

if you are afraid of showing this to a male doctor, choose a female doctor ..so your mind would be at ease.

What you are dealing with is probably a yeast infection based on the symptoms you described. A yeast infection can cause symptoms to occur on the outside of the vagina (I have this happen to me) as well.

They have over the counter medicines but I wouldn't recommend it til talking to your doctor. I know you are scared to do this (and that's understandable because of the area in question) but if you have a really good primary care physician that you feel comfortable with they will be able to check this out for you and tell you if it is a yeast infection or not.

If you have more questions for me please feel free to e-mail or IM me off site any time.

my friend has the same problem as yours and the doctor said that she was allergic to the sanitary pad that she used. the doctor gave her some cream and she had been using it for a while and she said her problem had become less. i think you should go and find a doctor to check yours. it will not harm you. ask someone you trusted to come along to make you feel comfortable. good luck!
