umm.. has she been tested? or are you scared you are going to catch it from them at Christmas? I'm really confused on why you would leave her for something she doesn't have.

Juan,
As you can tell from the answers ahead of mine, the consensus is that you need a better understanding of HIV, and probably made a snap judgment based on false information, or not enough information. HIV is not easy to get. You should do some research on it, and do some deeper thinking about the situation.

The bottom line is that you have already made your decision. You might need to apologize to your former girlfriend for your lapse in judgment, but that doesn't mean you should necessarily return to your relationship. That has to be your decision, and hers as well. This can be a learning opportunity for you both.

it's quite sad that you left her just because her family has a history of HIV since it's not her fault that her family has HIV.Instead of giving her moral support, you left her. This goes to show that you didn't love her that much after all.

Since you are asking this question now, are you regretting on your decision? What matters the most is whether do you love her enough to overcome the discrimination/your own barrier?

what do you mean her family has a history of HIV? She has family members that has it? If that is the case, that doesn't mean that she has it, although I would probably be skeptical to, if you have already had any relations with her then you need to be tested now anyways.

Darlin, you just got scared, and thats normal...but can i tell you something!??
NOBODYs FAMILY has a "history" of HIV!!!
It isnt genetic or hereditary!!! It is a DISEASE that is contracted,,,,NOT inherited!!!

Please dont leave her over a fear like that,.....! But sounds like your heart and mind has already been set, so.......I kinda feel for HER!! She needs someone who will stick with her thru thick and thin, and it is not gonna be you......

Some people just cant take it, but hopefully, for her sake, someone out there CAN!!! love her unconditionally!!!:)

Where you stressed about the fact her family had it or that you could catch it from them or did you worry that she had it?Either way i think it would have been better if you both got tested together so both you and her could be safe.

i don't think you should break up with someone who has or whose family has HIV. also, that doesn't necessarily mean she, herself, has it, and that's what matters.
