Am I wrong in thinking a parent should make more time for a child that they dont see all the time?Call during the week just to see how school is or just to see how the day went?- maybe go out to dinner or just hang out for an hour some random day during the week.
one weekend a month isnt enough for me especially if there is no good reason (live very far away, working alot)to not spend more time with your child

Sometimes it is not up to the non-custodial parent as to when they can see their kids. They have to follow what the custody agreement states. I work for a man who's EX is always trying to keep him from seeing his kids or taking them on vacation. Sometimes it is the fault of the mother not being able to get over her anger at the ex husband to see how it is affecting the kids. Not all dads are deadbeats. Some actually care about their kids and want to be with them.

Parents should ring, regardless of where they live at least once or twice a week and if they don't see their kids once a week then at least once a month.

I'm sorry you are having a hard time with this.

Truth is we can't change others. You could let your parent know you would really LOVE to hear from them more often. Tell them you miss them. you might also let them know you often have something to tell them, but can't because you don't hear from them... let them know it's comforting to hear their voice. Ask them to please call you more often.

hugs
