You are 20 yrs old and if you can't control or modify your behavior then your parents have no choice and I researched it and it is legal in America. Abuse is not.
At your age you should be able to do what is expected of you. It sounds like you are lucky your folks don't throw you out and save the college money!

Corporal punishment remains a widely used discipline technique in most American families, but it has also been a subject of controversy within the child development and psychological communities. In a large-scale meta-analysis of 88 studies, psychologist Elizabeth Thompson Gershoff, PhD, of the National Center for Children in Poverty at Columbia University, looked at both positive and negative behaviors in children that were associated with corporal punishment. Her research and commentaries on her work are published in the July issue of Psychological Bulletin, published by the American Psychological Association.

If the 20 year old agrees to it, it's just really kinky and weird, unless injuries result. Then it's going to be illegal no matter what the 20 year old thinks.

If not, it's battery and maybe assault.

If the 20 year old's parents think this is a good idea, the 20 year old needs to get the heck out of that house.

It is sick that someone would resort to physical punishment of an adolescent let alone an adult. It is also far worse to physically punish a girl. It sounds like assault in most places but I doubt you would get a DA to prosecute or jury to convict. The legal judgment in the end would be for her to move out.

No and it never will be. You are in a country full of freedoms that empower you. If you're old enough to move out then you may need to consider it especially if you if you are over the age of 18. Wow, good luck!

No.. a 20 yr old is an adult. No one has a right to assult you. parents or no parents. It would be different if she was 3 yr old and you have to spank her or something, but a 20 yr old? Why would you let them?

of course not! 20 years old is an adult! 20years old...Even if they are still living at home (Which seems to be an economic normality now) they are adults. the only thing you can do is kick them out!

It is not legal to strike another adult. The crime is called battery and the person who has been hit is within his/her rights to have the hitter arrested.

No, it's not legal and you can press charges for assault. That probably doesn't solve your problem, but it's not legal.
