Pontiac is an American manufacturer/brand of car, but not all of their cars are American. The G8, for example, is badged as a Pontiac but is actually manufacture and imported from Australia.

It's an American brand, part of the General Motors family. Not all Pontiac models are exclusive to Pontiac, nor are they all manufactured in the US. The Pontiac Wave (sold in Canada) is the same car as the Chevy Aveo and the Suzuki Swift. They are all made in Korea by GM/Daewoo. The Pontiac Vibe and Toyota Matrix are essentially the same car. The Matrix is assembled in Ontario, Canada, the Vibe is assembled in California at a plant that is jointly owned by GM and Toyota.
Personally, I've owned one Toyota Tercel (a piece of rusted junk), one Hyundai (very reliable and cheap to own/operate) and one VW Jetta TDI (great performer, expensive to fix). I've owned several Fords (including Mercury), GMs (including 4 Pontiacs), 3 Chryslers (no warranty work ever on three vehicles totaling over 200 miles) and even a used AMC Spirit.
I think the best value for money I ever owned was a used 1980s era Pontiac Bonneville. The car was ugly as a Lada, but it was incredibly durable and it was cheap and easy to fix.

Pontiac is one of several brands of cars made by General Motors Co.(which is based in the USA) As far as quality; Pontiac has made some cheap cars in the past, but they have been turning out some much better cars recently and seem to be getting on the right track. If you like Pontiac cars and are looking at buying a fairly recent model -I would say go for it!!!

My 2006 Pontiac GTO is Austrailian Made by Holden. Most all cars are really built well these days. I work for nissan and drive Pontiac and Cadillac cars "why you ask" Avialbility of parts a larger nation wide dealer base. And american cars are simpler to repair in some cases. My pontiac has over 400 hp does not hurt either.

Yes Pontiac is an American car manufacturer. Whoever said american cars aint good to have needs to be put back on a boat and sent back to japan to drive their melon shooter exhaust, winged plastic pieces of crap. Won't buy anything but GM.

Yes, Pontiac is an AMERICAN made car.Foreign cars are junk and any car is only as good as it is cared for. Thinking AMERICAN cars are junk is ignorant and the reason why so many good jobs are gone. Everything that goes into the manufacture of AMERICAN cars, from steel, rubber, electric components,upholstery/trim has been effected by the bad rap given to AMERICAN cars. So,buy your foreign car. When there are fewer AMERICAN jobs, eat your foreign car.

Wtf, American cars aren't good? Chevy rules all others. I'd say foreign cars are the bad ones. But now days 99% of all the vehicles are made in China and what not. Why would an American made vehicle be bad to have? At least they're not a chunk of plastic cracker jack toy driving down the road. But again now days everything is made out of plastic. If they could find a way so the pistons wouldn't melt, they would be plastic also.

They are American and named after a famous Indian from Michigan. Whoever said they aint good, aint talking out of the right mouth and they have their head up their exhaust system, without catalytic converters.
