Not sure which would be best, a cauldron or a broomstick? She has treated my brother like dirt for the past few months and I was hoping she would join a coven at Halloween or something but no such thing happened. I want to drop a hint or two but I'm concerned she might put half her menagerie of pet animals in a cauldron so I guess the broomstick would be best-it's not like she hasn't ridden a few sticks in her time so there would be no problem in that respect.

Any other ideas?

Diamonds come from carbon. Give her one particle every year and say this will be a ring one day....one day.

There's nothing like family around the holidays. It's amazing that you can manage to not deal with problem people all year and when you least want to share air with someone, there they are. Anyway, I have issues with being vengeful or petty on a holiday associated with the Lord; so I would probable find a way to handle this gift giving dilemma without compromising my values. That said, there are a couple of ways to handle it. Possibly you could make it a gift for both your brother and the witch, er sister-in-law. Something like a gift certificate to a restaurant;someplace informal if they have trouble being together for any length of time. Another idea would be to make a donation in her name to a charity. It doesn't have to be much. The amount probably would not even be on the recognition card. If she is such an animal lover you could donate to an animal shelter. If worse comes to worse, you always could give her a gift certificate to Petco or Petsmart. You will have taken care of your obligation and the critters, too. And it probably would be a good idea to not drink anything that she hands you.

Ugh. I'd say nothing. I don't accept nor give anything to anyone I do not genuinely like. I think it's hypocritical to accept things from someone we can't stand.
I often think of knocking mine off of her broom and watching her butt bounce off the ground, lol. Yeah, that would be wicked fun.
Eh, give her a cordless vacuum. You can pass it off as a useful gift but be all tickled inside knowing to you it's just a fancy broom.

Me personally I would get her a rock :) ...Don't you hate it when you have in laws in which you cant stand (I love my husbands family but he has a cousin who is kind of weird..Nice guy but weird)..
I hated my husbands sister for years...she planned her wedding shower (she got married the same mth as us)the same day as my wedding..
I never bought her a thing for christmas and still don't...
Ok sorry I hijacked your thread.

I turned mine into the police, and watched her get dragged away in handcuffs after attacking my bro'. I would suggest something very serious, symbolic, and traditional..............like COAL in her stockings. Then buy your brother something awesome, you know, like a whip and chair.
