A Democrat is someone who desires an increase in the size and scope of government for the purposes of creating a nanny state at the taxpayer's expense.
A neo-conservative Republican (these days you have to distinguish) is someone who desires an increase in the size and scope of government for the purposes of a police state whose business is legislating morality.
An actual Republican thinks free markets are more efficient than the government at distributing resources to the poor, and supports less government, particularly at the federal level.
The idea of something for nothing defining the Democratic party is factually incorrect, as most Democrats are in fact middle class citizens willing to support the needy by paying taxes, not the needy themselves. Poor people don't vote. Don't ask me why.

A Democrat is someone who believes the government should stay out of someone's personal life but be involved in economic issues in order to help the poor and middle class.
Whether they want something for nothing depends on why they vote Democrat...same as Republican. Some people may want welfare programs so they don't have to work, but some people don't want to pay any taxes and still expect the government to somehow function

A Democrat is someone who plays on the same team as the Republicans. They are all the same. That way, it doesn't matter who you vote for. Dem or Rep, most are members of the Council of Foreign Relations. Except Ron Paul, of course.

Something for nothing? Does that refer to giving unfortunate citizens a push, such as granting welfare and affirmative action? If so, it is not for nothing. They are working citizens, who are just down on their last dollar, trying hard to work their way up. That definition you concurred with is obviously false. Your agreeing with it shows has slanted you've become.
A democrat is someone who works more closely with the entire nation's people to solve issues.
