There is no such thing as a DVD virus. Viruses only occur in programs. DVD's are not programs, but just simple digital data. Therefore there is no such thing as a DVD virus, as well as mp3 viruses etc.

Now, your problem. There are few things that might have happened. One is that your optical drive (your dvd drive) has some hardware fault and must be fixed or replaced. Check this first, try some other DVD's as well as audio CD's (not mp3 CD's). If all of them dont produce sound, get your DVD drive fixed or replaced.

Another problem might be that your speakers are busted. Try playing mp3's in your iTunes or Windows Media Player or whatever you have. No sound? Try plugging in earphones. If there's sound, the speakers are busted, get them fixed.

If there is no sound from any of these, check your volume settings. In the taskbar there is a small grey speaker icon. double click that and make sure that the CD Player, Volume control, Wave and PC Speaker sliders are not muted, and not set to zero. You can also find this menu in the Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices.

Also check your SONIC CinePlayer's volume.

I don't think there are any viruses that affect DVD players. Which isn't to say that one couldn't be constructed. But since ordinary DVD players don't have the ability to spread a virus, no one would waste their time doing that. Good night!

No there would be no sense to give an optical drive a virus. You have a hardware issue. Possibly need a new drive.
