Life is complicated , ups & downs.... successes & failures are a part of it ....Except everything gracefully & keep in mind that everything is temporary & there's a bright sunshine after a dark night..

Life is full of turmoil for all of us and few people are truly up to the rigors. People are suffering. I was stunned when I became a nurse to learn about how prevalent depression is. Clinical depression is the leading cause of disability in the U.S. and is expected to be the second leading cause of disability in the world within ten years. (WHO). Over 14 million adults each year in the U.S. are diagnosed with depression.

Although depression is prevalent, few people actually openly discuss their depression or personal problems with strangers in the real world. But, on the Internet, anonymity allows for a different culture in which people may more openly discuss their feelings and problems and depression, which is good, if you think about it. But, with that openess, there is a false impression that there is a surge in suffering and ineffective coping.

It's amazing how insulated we can grow up to be, and remain, to the difficulties that so many other people suffer every day, and difficulties that they face with such poor personal resources for coping and problem-solving and self-sufficiency and courage. Our societies need some serious fixing, that's for sure. Now you know why so many people choose careers in education, sociology, social work, health care, psychology, counseling and so on. I think the Internet can be a healthy way for people to connect with others when they are depressed or isolated or somehow lost and confused or otherwise in need of social support.

The dollar is worth less than ever, politics reek of corruption and hidden agendas, people are dying for causeless wars, more and more companies are offering part-time jobs instead of full-time jobs which include benefits, vacuous internet chat rooms are replacing community meeting places, the ecosystem is polluted and failing, and it's easier to find a fast food joint than a decent meal....

Life is getting harder, it's true - but life has always been getting harder for those who fail to evolve.

Depressed people have a lot in common with dinosaurs, but dinosaurs are still totally cool.

It is what happens when you pump a generation full of 'you can do anything you put your mind to' 'don't let anyone tell you, you can't' 'you're special' ' you're unique' 'there's no one in the world like you'?

And a few years down the line when reality sets in: depression. What we see today isn't so much people having real problems, but instead people who finally realize that they aren't the center of attention anymore.

Well, that would be most people who ask questions. People who are happy are much less likely to ask questions like that. So it might not be as widespread a problem as you imagine. But I do think most people suffer from isolation a lot. It's not natural. Good night!
