Neither, because I always thought that Merry Christmas was just for Christmas, and Happy Holidays meant Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Merry Christmas is directed mostly to Christians.

Happy holidays considers all the related holidays that fall around the Christmas holidays.

I prefer to narrow my wishes down to Christmas because without Christ in my life, I would be lost.

Merry Christmas. Because it's Christmas and I want to have a merry one and want other people to have a merry one, too. By the way, Merry Christmas.

I prefer Merry Christmas because I refuse to fold to the latest wave of Politically Correct clap trap.
If I am wishing someone a happy Hanukkah then I say,"Happy Hanukkah" This constant fear of offending someone is just ridiculous.

I prefer Merry Christmas more, it is just the reminder of how it was said, it is said and it will be said. People get used to this...
