As everyone else mentioned, all boiling does is kill any organisms (bacteria, etc) in the water. It does not remove any impurities. It will not make regular ol' tap water any better for you!
As far as the drinking enough liquids, that includes tea, coffee, soft drinks, foods such as fruits, anything with liquid in it...
This is a CNN article (hardly a scientific journal, but it explains it well).

This article talks about the 8 glasses a day and says that it isn't necessarily true...

Anywho, hope that helps!

Boiling water kills the germs if there are any living in it. It will definitely make the water cleaner if thats an issue.
In terms of whether or not you can substitute your daily water intake with tea, it depends what type of tea you drink.
Most herbal tea, like mint or chamomile, etc is fine. But if you're drinking green or black tea, then no you cant drink it instead of water. Black& green tea contain caffeine which dehydrates you. So if you drink that kind of tea, you actually need to drink some extra water on top of your 8 glasses a day.

Boiling water kills bacteria. It will also work with prepared tea, but you are probably better off using the boiled water to make the tea rather than boiling the tea drink.

Boiling water for 20 minutes will kill almost all harmful bacteria from it and water will be safe to drink. Boiling also removes many dissolved minerals from the water which may be useful for your body.

boiling water kills bacteria. ya know cuz its really hot and stuff lol. and no you cant substitute it with tea, tea has stuff in it the although seems like water ISNT! specially sweet tea, it has too much sugar. but if you are really concerned...when i wanted to drink more water i got those kool-aid singles and put them in my water bottle, just make sure you only use one. its not too strong but it still gives the water some flavor.
