I ask only because being too positive makes you very naive and unrealistic. And being too realistic makes you seem like almost a pessimist and of course that's not positive.

In case you did not notice this is a negative question.
If you cannot switch to being positive about being positive, I would guess that you are in for one tough ride. On the positive side, the ride will show you that it is the wrong way to go and cause you to desire something better which will help you look for a better path. Cheers!

One cannot be "too realistic" - being anything but realistic would equate with deceiving oneself.

That being said, there is no reason to broadcast what you see if doing so will only perturb those around you.

You should be capable of choosing what you say, regardless of what you see. People will always like compliments and hate complaints.

The best balance is to just be yourself and go with your initial instinct about whatever the situation is. Gut instincs should be correct.

I tend to always think about worst-case scenarios first because I want to to be several steps ahead of the game, so I guess I am more of a pessimistic realist. Because of this, I am not easily duped.

The balance will naturally happen if you just be yourself and go with you initial instinct.

You got to take the facts and break down what good and bad comes out of it, always remember that their is always some kind of good that comes out of the bad, you always got to look at the good alternative and never focus on something being just one way, always welcome an alternative solution or plan so you wont be to disappointed if things don't go the way you wanted.
And use bad decisions or bad luck as a learning tool to better prepare yourself in the future
