I am night time breast feeding my 18 month old son. For the past 2 years I have not had a period but since I have started to wein him i just got my first one two Fridays ago it lasted a week until last Friday, I have been off of it for a week and tonight I just started again...I am wondering if this is normal? Is it at least safe? Or do I need to worry? I have never had this happen before and I this is my 3rd child...the others this did not happen with. Any advise or personal experiences would be a big relief. Thanks!

when i breastfed I still recieved my period. I do not believe what you are going through is normal. First is there a possiblity you are pregnant? could it have been implantation bleeding? I would make an appt with your OB, i know that my mom started randomly bleeding and ended up with a few cysts. Better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck

Sounds about right.
Every woman's body is different, but I didn't get my period back until my first son was 16 months old and we dropped to 2 sessions a day. Your period will be quite irregular for a few months while your body settles back into a routine.
Don't worry! Totally normal!

If you aren't feeling extremely drained than I wouldn't be too worried because it is probably just hormones trying to regulate your body. However if you are concerned ring your doc. I did not get my cycle regulated until my daughter was almost two when I breast fed and I started weining at about 12 months. But that was something I experienced and it was frustrating.

I would give it a few periods for your body to get regular...especially if you were regular before, if the cycle doesn't seem to be becoming normal after 2 or 3, I would definetly talk with a Dr. or midwife!

My periods returned when my daughter was 15 months old and still nursing. They were rather erratic for the first few months. My understanding is that it's pretty normal.
