that your ex has to respond to your communications? My girlfriend and her husband have it written that they must respond to e-mails within 24 hours? I just wondered if this is common? Mine owes me money for his share of medical bills for our son-yet he ignores any e-mails or phone messages. (this is only the second time in 4 years I have asked for money). it's not a large enough sum to warrant legal measures, but it is close to Christmas and he definitely has the money so that is not the issue. Sorry to vent.

If you and your ex did not lay your cards on the table and agreed on certain matters regarding your son - it's hard to run after someone who doesn't have the sense of commitment and responsibility to help with his son's welfare and health. Its close to Christmas, true. But if he doesn't do his share of being a father - forget about letting him in when he comes to visit his son. Or tell him he is not allowed to stay long. He's copping out of his responsibilities and therefore forfeits his rights as father.

And it is NOT about the money. Its about principle and priorities, commitment and responsibility.

I didn't but it is a great idea! It was very difficult at first to get him to respond to my phone calls or emails. Now we have a better relationship but it would have made things easier in the beginning.
