Yes, Manson is controversial just as he wants to be, but why is he the one being attacked? Set aside his looks for a minute and focus on his lyrics and songs. Countless people freak out about him having "sex" or "violence" or "promoting suicide" when this does not seem to be his intentions at all (from what I've seen in his interviews). There are MANY other bands with WAY more profound content in their music than Manson, only they are not mainstream. Think of the most horrid lyrics you can think of and I guarantee I have seen it done X10. This is stuff that is definitely too profound to post here, but it is insane. I just hate how the press think they are so smart rallying against Manson and pinning "bad lyrics" on him and discovering all of this when there are so many other bands who do worse. The press is just too lazy to do their research to see this (not that I necessarily want all of those bands to be put down).

If the press only read some of the other lyrics it would be all over the news for sure. If the press only did their research to see what Manson is really like, maybe they could at least criticize them in a more competent manor. Yes, I believe Manson likes to be challenged sometimes, but I feel everyone is just going about it the wrong way and it's insane that their blaming violence on him when it could be blamed on so many other things like video games, culture, movies, any media really, sooo many other bands that they haven't even heard of, parents, etc.
I dunno, that's just my opinion, what do you think?

Marilyn Manson is a man that needs about 300% more respect than he currently gets. The man is a genius who tries to relay to people that they have the right to let their voice be heard, let themselves be free. It is the fault of the goddamn, close-minded, psychotic, pessimistic, negative, finger-pointing conservative Christians who blame Mr. Manson for everything that happens in this world because they do not have the intelligence to come up with a sensible solution to the plagues of the world. Listen to the lyrics of his music. Don't just buy into the idiotic propoganda that is artifically created around him. The man has a message. For **** sake, let him give it.

llllllllllllets face it...MANSON SUCKS BAWLS! I think everyone attacks him for the WRONG reasons...his lyrics are NOT original...he is NOT original...he is a media WHORE! He gets on stage at the MTV awards and acts like he is so much better than all the other clowns when he is just part of the show. But SERIOUSLY...the reason everyone picks on Manson...is because he makes music to get his big ugly face on MTV. And since his music and looks frighten the suburban douche bags and only suburban douchebags watch MTV he appears on the public news. Grow up...*Drops mic...walks away*

I think he is attacked a lot because he conjures up a lot of intelligent things to say on his interviews, and he is a very well spoken person and ambassador of music culture. BUT, when listening to the lyrics of his songs, his creativity and intelligence in music is not very representative of the things he says in his interviews.

They hate on him because he is making money off of it. He is not a rock star. He is a inmate. Lyrics and music have nothing to do with your actions. I love God very much but my favorite band is Slayer. Their lyrics are dark, unique and down right Genius, but I will never take them serious. I live in reality sorry. Slayer shreds and is the baddest ever. Manson is just a former killer hippie turned California State Prison Inmate. No more no less. If he wanted to be famous with art maybe he should of did that instead.

Manson is a very intelligent guy and very deep in his lyrics.. Its his image that people see first and they dont look into it further and just say he is a freak.. people jump to conclusions way too fast..If he were to sing about not believing in religion then right away it turns into he worships the devil.. its the narrow minded that jump to their conclusions way too fast and feel it neccesary to blab it to the world..

alright you mean currently? well im attacking him only just for this moment because there was recently an MCR vs MM jumble and i personally believe he handled it the wrong way.
otherwise i agree with all of what the positive ppl said. he truly is a genius who is just shunned because of his different perspective of things.
