....saying that they were potentially dangerous people, would you do it?
Remember, you were going to shoot at men, women and children and if you refused you would be court-marshalled and the penalty could be your death instead.

It is easy to say no but then again in that situation our thought process could change. Theoretically I say NO.

First of all, your premise is unfounded.
Second, it's a Court-martial, not a court-marshall.
The military does not instruct soldiers to shoot at unarmed citizens on a whim. A Captain is a Navy officer, and not a Corporal or Colonel. The Navy does not go on land unless they are on leave or off duty.
In any case, regardless of your inane premise, myself I would shoot, because failure to follow an order is also a court-martial offense. But I (as a former Navy Master Chief Petty officer) realize that I would never be instructed to do such a thing. And under UCMJ code 860.60, an officer would never do such a thing, and under UCMJ 864.64, I could appeal it if found guilty.
Perhaps you should research before you flap your jaws.

If they're unarmed, I would not shoot at them. I could justify that decision in a military court, and God knows that if the sh** hit the fan, the captain would only deny giving any orders to fire upon civilians.

I have a close friend who had to go to war and they HAD to shoot anyone who didn't respond to them saying "move away" or "Stop" etc.

It could potentially be a suicide bomber and they had no choice!

I would say I wouldn't do it, but if it came down to it, who knows! (He said before he left he wouldn't do it, but he saw his mates get blown up so he had to "protect" himself first!)

Yes. I think everybody wants to be able to say that they wouldnt do it, but we are all humans. We have survival instincts just like any other species. It is our first insinct to think about ourselves first and save our own hide first.

as a soldier, its not your job to second guess a direct order.
if soldiers were allowed to second guess a commanding officer, there would be chaos in the military.
