The best honest way for me to answer the question is that I like to avoid drama and arguments, but I cannot say I always avoid controversy. My morals does not permit me to concern myself with the popular way of thinking, but instead, I must think what is right. I will respect that people will think different than me, I have welcomed people in my life who are different than me. But I must not conceal the fact I believe in God. If I conceal the fact I believe in God to impress people, then Jesus will not want to acknowledge me to His Father. I don't have to always talk about my beliefs, I don't have to be pushy and in-you-face about it. I just have to be willing to admit that I do believe. I am to be God's witness, but if a person lets me know they are not interested in talking religion, I'll respect their wish just because I would not want an atheist/agnostic/pagan/wicca to push their stuff on me.
Controversy cannot always be avoided, but it is possible to be peaceful about it and can use the "agree to disagree" method.
One controversy I don't avoid, another one that is, the controversy of females sticking up for themselves towards men and demanding their right to be treated as the EQUAL partner/gender. I have thoughts and feelings, and DANG IT, I will make them known! I believe in 50/50 in a relationship. I have my rights to what makes me happy! I am no man's s-x slave, and I sure the heck am not his any kind of slave! I am not his dang robot either! I am HUMAN!

It's impossible for anyone to avoid controversy. It's everywhere. I personally like it, it means people are thinking, caring, and acting.

I try to, but sometimes it seems it's almost impossible to when it comes at you from everywhere. I am going through a divorce and that has been controversy for me, because I didn't want this divorce.
