No, I don't believe there are more millionaires. I think the TV networks give that impression. I agree that the upper middle class has been diminished over the last 25 years and the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. What really bothers me though is how little the rich really care about the lowermiddle/poor and their needs. I mean they want to do away with SSI for all those 55 and younger. SSI is just as necessary or more necessary now than before. If they would establish a law that money could not be taken from it for things like War, we would be in the black for the boomers....as we were under Clinton who passed a law to stop use of SSI for other programs and such which was reversed under Bush Admin. It just really gets me going when I hear about the rich wanting to do away with SSI because of the Boomers...that is such a lie.

I would have to agree with some of the others on here that the middle class is getting pushed out. We are becoming the land of the poor and rich. The rich don't care about anything except spending what they got and the poor are just scraping by, if that. What is this country coming to. Recession is coming folks. Look at the housing market and the trickle down effect it is causing. Everyone is being effected by it in some way or another. And it is not Good!!!!

Statistically everyone above is right-the middle class is getting pushed out. I wouldn't go so far as to say there are more millionaires than middle class it's just the ones there are are richer than ever. Yahoo's main page had an article yesterday showing what the rich are buying for Christmas. it was apalling that people would be so unnecessarily extravagent. I think we think there are more rich because of media hype-we see it more now than we ever did before.

With the raises in the cost of living, being a millionaire is middle class now. The billionaires (and there are a lot of them) are now the rich ones.

No meds for me, but I will admit that the wine is kicking in here too. Oh, what was the question? Millionaires and middle class..... the middle class is becoming something of the past. Those with more money are more likely to make the headlines.

President Bush has redefined millionaire, they are the middle class now.(not me). The new Lexus , Caddy in the driveway on Xmas morning that's what the world of advertising want's you to believe is the norm. It's not. My favorite is the DeBeers commercial where the 23 yr.old girl gets the $50,000 engagement ring, what a joke.Maybe somewhere, but nobody I know.My mother used to hand out crappy advise to my sister, telling her "it's just as easy falling in love with a millionaire as a poor man" What kind of crap is that to tell a daughter ? No wonder I left home in "69 and never went back.

you are right but don't think there is not a lot of millionaires out there -- if one should take the time to sat down and figure all of his assets they would be surprise if they are not or very close to being millionaires -- esp the upper senior level of folks --- like this poor dirt farmer friend of mine you always has on old worn clothes and drives a 1982 four wheel dodge truck -- his runed down house sits on 300 acres of prime farming land with about 90 cows roaming !!! he may not be able to rub two dollars together but the land on its own is worth close to 600k and it is paid for!!! if you have the time read the book the millionaire next door!!!!
