Actually young kids have (natural) biological drives to want to go to bed late and get up late. This is totally natural and THE HEALTHIEST, especially for psychological health. Unfortunately thanks to parents working and such and SCHOOL SYSTEMS most schools start at like 8 AM or SOONER even like 7AM. This means a lot of kids will have to get up at say 6AM to catch the bus and such and as you have seen THERE ARE A LOT OF GROUCHY YAWNING KIDS AT SCHOOL. This is becasue of this biological system adolescents have. School should start no later than 9AM but try telling that to people, they get mad. Anyway what is MORE important though no matter what time you go to bed is the number of hours of sleep you get at your age At the minimum get 8 hours if you can and preferably 9 or 10. If you do this you will notice faster working and more concentration.
Hope this helps bro Peace out ;)

I think it depends on the 14 year old in question. Everyone has different requirements for sleep. If the 14 year old is getting up on time and is on time for school everyday, then I'd give him/her a choice as long as it was within reason. If it's becoming an issue and the 14 year old sleeps in a lot or is sleepy all day, then earlier is better. Seems like 10-11 is a good framework for school nights generally speaking.

Well I think a 14 year old should go to sleep 9:30 - 10:00 on a school night. On a friday 11 - 11:30 but on saturday 10:30 Sunday 9:30 - 10 :]
Hope I helped.

Wow, everyone on this list is sounding a little bit insane. 14 year olds, for the most part, are responsible enough to go to bed on their own. Especially with all the homework that is given, a bedtime is bad for academics. If you want them to succeed in school, don't place a bedtime on them. There will be times when he or she NEEDS to stay up late in order to work on a project. I stopped having a bedtime around 12 years old.

When I was 14, I didn't have a bedtime.
But I usually went to bed around 10 or 11, depending on homework. Things change so much in high school and it's a lot more intense than it's been in the past, so homework, projects, and tests weigh in, so it's hard to set an exact time.

at 14(I'm now 25) I don't think I had a bedtime. Hmm, nope, yeah I didn't have a bedtime.
I personally only need 6 hours of sleep. Even my own internal clock wakes me up after 6 hours. No longer no shorter. If I wake up before the 6 hours, I'm tired and sluggish, same with if I sleep longer than 6 hours.

Well honestly you can tell a 14 year old be in bed by 10pm or whatever and most teenagers wont listen anyway. When i was that age i went to bed when i was tired.

Depends. If you wake up at 5 in the mroning so you can catch your bus, I would not recomend 11 PM. Aim for about 8 and a half hours of sleep. More is better. I need 10 hours to be refreshed. Which is why I slaphappy all day today. I had 5 hours. NOT FUN MY FRIEND, NOT FUN.
