Which is a better place to live: Northern or Southern California? Why?

Question

I know that in terms of population Northern California is no match for Greater L.A. alone, yet the north is much greener and appears to be wealthier. Yet still, which is safer, friendlier, having more facilities, better education, etc?

In other words, which one is more suitable for a good peaceful life? Please explain...

There are places in the North and South that are safe and wealthy...the North has very few areas of crime and violence like the South, but that doesn't mean you can't avoid them. For instance, La Jolla in the South is a very rich area, very safe, with beautiful beaches nearby. Same with Encinitas. North is colder and more boring, but if that's something you want, go for it.

It really depends on what you're looking for. Most of Southern California is desert and it's dry, but the weather is amazing. Northern California is colder, wetter, but it's not a desert. Los Angeles is a huge city, so naturally it's going to be dirty, but there are parts that are really fun. Northern California has a lot of really cool cities too, like San Fransisco, Sacramento, etc. Both places are awesome, it just depends on you.

San Francisco is one of the greatest cities in the world. Beautiful, fun, exciting. It has hills and character. Wonderful people, culture, arts, food. Then drive across the golden gate bridge to hike in the redwoods at Muir Woods. Or visit wine country.

LA is nice, but its very sterile. Wealthy people drive buy in their Rolls Royces. Eat sushi and take mud baths. Afraid that their houses will catch on fire from the hot winds.

I'd vote for the north.

There is a reason northern California is so green. Lots of rain.
Give me the south anytime. I like wearing sunglasses, shorts, and sandals in January.

If you want a good and peacful life try Colorado. Cali is going to fall off one day anyways.
