I have had a flat tire for three days now, I cant change it. I have asked my son everyday to come over and change it for me, he came over today and used the last of my toilet paper but didnt change the tire -

Now I am sitting here with no toilet paper and no water and he isnt answering his phone.

Is there someone you can call who does things for disabled people ? I cant afford to pay someone to come and change it who will charge me about $40 to do it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

the fix a flat stuff might work, I have heard it wrecks your tires actually, but you kind of need your car to go buy it - thanks anyhow

I phoned and they want $65 to change the tire, not fix it, just put on the spare AND another $10 for a "fuel surcharge" for drving out here - this is why people say B.C. as in British Columbia stands for "Bring Cash" :-(

I called my insurance company and threw myself on their mercy, I know the ladies there so well - and they sent someone out and changed the tire, put on the doughnut spare for FREE ! Just got it done, I am off to take it to a tire store that will fix it for me - also for FREE. WAHOO - God is good and so are some people,

What I do and have done for others stranded in a parking lot, is use something called, "fix-a-flat". It's a spray foam sealant type thing that you hook onto the tire to seal the leak and fill the tire temporarily. Sometimes it holds, sometimes you need to fix the tire for real, but it can get you to a mechanic for help without having to deal with a tow truck. It's about 5 bucks and can be purchased at walmart, or any autoparts store. It's extremely easy to use - just screw it on the part of the tire that you would put air into the tire (or ask something to do this - it takes all of 5 minutes). The other thing you can do if no one will take you to buy it is sign up for a AAA membership - they will change tires, help you if you lock your keys in or are stranded - even if you run out of gas - you do nothing but call them and wait. But the membership is pricey. It's great for emergencies. I think fix-a-flat is the quickest miracle cure to get you to your next step. You have to drive on the tire for a little while after you refill it though - so keep that in mind. Hopefully if your car has been sitting for a while, it will start. I don't know if you're in a cold climate or not. Hope that helps and good luck.

I wish I had something I could offer. You would think that there would be a good neighbor or friend who could help you out. There must be someone you know who would help. Keep calling your son and leave message after message.... hopefully he will get the message.

I have used that fix a flat before... years ago ... and it seemed to work quite well. Simple to use too, if you have a way to get a can or two.

I bought that stuff called "fix a flat" for about $5.00 It has always worekd for me. I have learned to keep a can in my car. I drove on the same tire over 2 years after using it. Truthfully, I don't know how to take the hub cap off to even attempt to fix a tire, so Fix a Flat is my "husband" in a can, LOL

Your son needs a swift kick in the pants and you had better let him know your not playing games with him. You needed help and he ignored you, don`t put up with that kind of crap. Try calling a service station in your area, some will come and take the tire to their shop to repair and replace on your car. I don`t think the charge will be $40, if the station is nearby.

Since I am alone, I always carry fix a flat to fix most flat tires that aren't off the rim. It does seal them, so you can drive them to a shop to be fixed. As far as trashing the tire, it just makes it pretty messy for the person who is fixing it.Look in the phone book under "garages". It probably won't be cheap, though, if someone comes to your house.Get ahold of that son!

Do you not have a nice neighbor who would change the flat for you...it takes no more than 15 minutes, and I cannot believe that someone would not be kind enough to change the tire..then take that tire to the station and have it repaired, balanced, and replaced on the car....you just cannot be stuck inside your house forever more, you need to ask for help..it is obvious that the last person you should have over to your house is your son, or Gary! Daggum shame! GEEZ! Do you have a neighbor Isotope who can help ? For those who know how to do it, it's no biggie...doesn't take that long to change the tire and put on the spare...then later you can get the tire fixed by dropping it off at a service station.

We just had a flat on a mini vacation this week and are thanking our lucky stars we belong to AAA. Do they have such an association in Canada?

Do you have any neighborhood teen boys who would love the chance to work on a car?

I wish you the best of luck. Those are dire straights to be in.

well, start with using newspaper since there's nothing else available. Second tell your son he's a parasite! Also, now invest in the Canadian Automobile Association (Auto club) for such emergencies). Learn to rely on no one but yourself! I got 3 kids, so that's pretty much what I'm doing!

Is there a nearby high school that may have an automotive club or class? They may be willing to send students over with a teacher as a form of community service?
