My son is 2 1/2 and I still have "the pouch". It's definitely not as bad as the day after he was born but its still there. I've heard that after having a baby a woman will never go back to pre-pregnancy size but I refuse to believe that. With good diet and exercise i think its possible. Billy Blanks BootCamp DVD is great...if you wanna be worked like a dog! By the end of the DVD I was sitting on the couch eating a bowl of ice cream, but I guess it depends on your drive. Another good thing is the big blow up exercise ball. There are a lot of ab building exercises you can do on those things. Good Luck!

I had my son 5 weeks ago - so it's early days for me, but I've started back into my pilates routine (just lightly though!) and my stomach area is looking better already. It's not back to pre-pregnancy fitness, but I don't expect it to be.

Also, did you go to a physio class after birth? They showed us exercises to do to pull your muscles together (and to help the pelvic floor). It's very similiar to this - http://parenting.ivillage.com/newborn/nmomcare/0,,lz_2ztw,00.html

Apart from that it might just be your genetics taking over unfortunately. I'd definately recommend pilates anyway though! If you can spare 15 minutes every day, you should see something working.

Congratulations on the birth of your son!

You lose fat all over.
Get a jogger pram and go for long walks.
Make up exercises with the baby.
They have exercise classes for this now.

Breastfeed =)

ok it might be a bit late for that... Have you tried Pilates type exercises or the ones that have you sitting on an exercise ball? They're supposed to be good for core strengthening.

I lost most of my baby weight by breast feeding, it takes alot of calories to sustain you both. But you stomach muscles are stretched to major extremes when you are pregnant, so it will probably never go back to your pre- pregnant firmness. Sorry, just one of the things you earn by having babies. Just like wrinkes and grey hair, you earned it.

Try reverse crunches - or lifting your legs (knees bent) while standing up (like you are kneeing up). Try walking or jogging also.
