No pageants shouldn't be banned. I certainly understand where you are coming from, but it's the parents that tend to make the pageants look bad.

They are usually the ones that seem to push their children and put so much pressure on them. It almost seems as if the moms are living out their life thru the children.

I think it's all innocent fun until it crosses lines. I did them when I was younger, and they can help put your children thru college and when done without all the catty-ness they can be a great tool in keeping a young girl from making bad choices in life, as far as being too busy to be doing drugs.

It really depends on the parents of the girl, and also if the girl want to do them or is being forced to do them.

Parents should not pressure their child to lose more weight, and they should always be supportive and not harm their child in the process.

I can certainly see the good and bad sides of them though.

i think mothers should be banned from them...

If there ever was a group that tried to ban beauty pageants,I doubt it would work. The world has too much of a love of the flesh. I think they should be banned, as I can't think of any good reason for them. I especially think that the ones for little girls should be banned. 5 year olds paraded around in swimsuits and skirts? what's wrong with you people?

I don't think they should be banned but I think parents need to put more thought into entering their children into them. If I knew my child wasn't pageant material, I wouldn't sign them up. It's setting them up for disappointment. They should be more about inside and outside beauty.

Why? People line up to get into them- so what's their harm? I think they're kinda silly, personally... But I'm not one to take Opportunities away from Others- just because I don't agree with a Premise. You want to Ban something- get rid of the high powered firearms the Country's awash in... Maybe it be safe to go the Malls again....

no I dont think they should. But I think they should be better monitored.

It does bring down a lot of peoples self esteem... the girls are gorgeous... fake or not, the way they look in that moment and photograph is very glam. But if you keep in perspective that most of them starve themselves and look nothing like what you see in the photographs then its not hard to just watch and not compare yourself. Almost anyone given a hairstylist, somebody picking out clothes that will most flatter you and a make up artist doing your make up will look glam and out of this world.

I don't agree with the little 3 and 4 year olds competing though. It feels so wrong seeing them wearing fake eyelashes and getting spray tans and having to wear fake teeth "dentures" to hide their missing teeth.

Beauty pageants are for narcissistic idiots that use their looks and what very little brains they have to be a princess for a year. Big friggin whoop. I don't even think beauty pageants are a big deal anymore anyway.

Are we talking approximately person ones or kiddie's ones? Kiddies ones could be banned with the aid of sexualisation and objectification (snuckles) of youthful toddlers - this is outright ridiculous. and that i do no longer would desire to be a 'feminist' to assert that! As for person ones - I reckon in the event that they opt to instruct off their credentials - nicely, it fairly is as much as them. i do no longer watch them for my area, and don't hardship with (glurg) style shows (nevertheless I easily have executed protection interior the dressing rooms for a bunch of very candy youthful 15 3 hundred and sixty 5 days old fashions -old adult males are courteous and discreet and don't perv on them). They used the butch adult males to guard the 'million dollar gown' - no humorous tale!! i did no longer get the impact absolutely everyone would opt to scouse borrow it - consistent with threat Trev? Hmmm - i assume you are able to purely fall returned on feminist rhetoric to assist a case for banning person shows as 'objectification', gender stereotyping and so on - then you definately would be interior the cleft stick (0.5-way around the barbed twine fence) of it being a private selection. won't be able to artwork the two strategies. sooner or later we will all be old and thinking why we bothered in any respect. plenty discomfort - so little benefit.

No, that's like saying we shouldn't score sports games. We can't remove the fact that some people are more talented or beautiful than others by taking away all the competition.

Yes. All it does is bring down someone elses self esteem. Besides the girls in beauty pagents are all fake. They wear so much make up, and have fake smiles on, and give fake answers.

Well I see no point in professional sports... but banning that sort of thing would be a HUGE infringement on personal freedom. To each his own.
