Being overweight has NOTHING to do with BREASTFEEDING. But, something to keep in mind, it might take a bit to get comfortable for the BOTH of you... So, DONT give up. Here are my suggestions. My friend had the HUGEST boobs ever when she nursed. So, she used the Football method. It works great, get a boppy pillow. Also, lay down on the bed might be good to, u know, side ways, with the baby next to u, if you have any other questions, or need any other help, let me know, i was faced with a lot of nursing struggles.... Good luck, this is the BEST thing you can do for your baby and yourself!

I'm overweight and I found it really hard to breastfeed my son when I held him in front of me (like a cradle hold...I think they call it).

Me, I found it a lot easier to hold him in the "football" hold where you hold them on your side like a football. I had to prop him up on a pillow, but that was pretty much the only position I could really breastfeed him in.

AND, you should really seek help from a lactation consultant. They can watch what you are doing and give you great tips on how to make it work better for you. There are also lots of online places that will help and work with you online. I remember asking questions on the La Leche League website, but it seems to have changed. No afraid not, I am fat, I couldn't breastfeed because my milk never came in but your baby will do just fine, ask for help from a lactation consult at the hospital. They gave me a lot of great info. Congrats on the baby.

There are various holds you can try (cradle, cross, football) and one of those should work. I have never heard of anyone who couldn't nurse lying down - it offers a lot more maneuverability. My mother was very overweight, and still managed to breastfeed my siblings and me without trouble.

With lots of support from pillows and hands, try sitting in the middle of your bed with pillows all around you. Breastfeeding will help you to lose weight also, 500 calories a day!!

Are you serious? Any one can breastfeed!! Your weight has nothing to do with weather or not you care enough for your child to give them the healthiest beginning.

Does this even deserve an answer?
If you really are overweight, you should be able to figure it out without asking such a rude insensitive question. Successful breastfeeding has nothing to do with a person's weight; it only has to do with how much they are willing to educate themselves about it.

Well, I think natually your love handles are spread out a little pit. Your walls are pushed out a little. My mom gave birth to 6 kids. May I say no more.
