Well here's a few big hints;
They were a Krautrock band (German), and the album was green foam rubber, and released in the early 70's. The cover was designed by a member of the band.

You're looking for Nine Days Wonder with Walt Seyffer. Their debut of the same name was a rubber cover with footprints if I remember correctly. I remember the music more than the cover...hardcore prog mixed with jazz fusion. Kinda reminds me of King Crimson/Zappa or even Devil Doll to a certain extent. I love Stomach Choise with all the different sounds with the saxaphone topping the list. Great tunes....
