I see two different people when I look in the mirror and when I look at photos of myself. My pictures look worse than how I see myself in the mirror. Am I just imagining things or does everyone experience a similiar problem? And with that in mind, which would be a more accurate portrayal of one's self?

Same here.
Goes for reflections, too.
They always shock me when I walk by glass.
But, in the mirror, I don't see all the yuck.

No. I always think I look worse in photos than I do when I look at myself in the mirror. I don't photograph well because I'm camera shy and I freeze up...but it still makes we worry that the pics are a more accurate portrayal of how others see me.

Good question/observation.

Photos are usually taken from a longer distance than when you look in a mirror, so the face looks different. A photo is likely to be a more accurate portrayal of what others see but don't forget that others see you quite differently from the way you see yourself. Other people's views of you are usually much kinder than your own.

It's quite common for people not to like photos of themselves. Perhaps this is because the 'you' that you see in the mirror is different from a photo (it's reversed, of course, and, as I say, viewed from a different perspective.)

You look worse in a photo. If you want to know if you are fat, take a photo in a bathing suit. The mirror takes off about 10 pounds, but the photo never lies!! I avoid taking pictures at all costs, for fear of what may be hanging out at the wrong time

I think the reason I look better in mirrors is because if I see that I'm doing soemthing ugly I can immediately fix it, but in a picture I can't see what they're doing. I take HORRIBLE pictures.

You can pose yourself to take a good picture. I find I look didderent in different mirrows A lot depends on the light reflecting of that mirrow.

Your face is reversed when you look in the mirror (left=right and right=left).

When you look at a photo, your face appears as it looks to everyone else (left=left and right=right).
