Your birth control should be effective as long as you are remembering to take it as prescribed (if it's the pill, for example, taking one pill a day at around the same time of day).
The so-called "morning after pill", which is actually emergency contraception, is typically used on those occasions when the sex was completely unprotected - no birth control or condoms or anything.
You can take it if you want to, if it would make you feel more comfortable but your birth control should have you covered. Emergency contraception is now available over the counter at your local pharmacy and is typically two pills with the same hormones as the birth control pill just in a higher dosage. It works by suppressing ovulation, if you don't ovulate you cannot become pregnant, and also by making the lining of the Cervix thicker to stop any additional sperm from entering the uterus. If you are already pregnant, Plan B (emergency contraception) will not cause an abortion. If taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex, it is 86% effective at preventing pregnancy. You can still take it within 120 hours after sex if it's been longer than 3 days.
Best of luck!
Peace,
Jenn

The birth control you are taking might work on its own to prevent pregnancy, although you should be aware that it can sometimes cause very early abortions.
The morning after pill can also cause very early abortions if a woman takes it after she conceives (most of the time they don't know).
Have you ever seriously considered abstinence? Why are you engaging in risky behavior that may result in a pregnancy or in a sexually transmitted disease?
Find a man who will respect you and is mature enough to wait. Adults can practice self-control.

well, it depends on the birth control
most birth controls actually start working fully after the 1st month--as your on your second its most likely your not going to get pregnant,
but if your really worried finish your cycle of the control *ie if your on the patch its 3 week cycles* then get the pill, it will force a period so if there is any chance your pregnant, you'll bleed it out like a regular menstral cycle.
this will probably be a heavier period then normal. so dont freak if your normally a light bleeder

If you are having sex with a man who isn't your husband then forget pills, dear, and try abstinence instead.

You should be fine. Just wait a few days and go get a pregnancy test to ease your mind!
