Recently, someone I've gotten pretty close to called a guy a "f@g." Don't get me wrong; the guy deserved to be insulted. But the thing I don't get is, the guy that said it, is gay.
Generally, terms such as "f@g" are considered insults to homosexuals. So, I was pretty surprised when the guy said it.
Are terms such as that becoming a bit more accepted, and considered less of an insult to gays; more a generic insult?

I think he's accepted his own homosexuality fine.
The other guy told him that he "thought he was cute, but then he took a closer look at his face." It really hurt his self - esteem, after he's already had a crappy time lately. He was incredibly angry and upset, and he just sort of.. said it.
