Quite frankly, it depends upon the circumstances. A person can get 40 years to life in prison if the arson was committed during an attempted murder, or in connection to some other grievous conspiracy. However, it is more likely that a 1st offense will get 1 to 10 years, if there are no other circumstances and the arsonist is an adult.
