I got 4.0 all Freshman year at a supposely low academic public high school.

So I transfer to a more selective public school (ranked a top 100 California HS according to US NEWs, etc).

Currently I'm getting low 3.3s at this tougher school.

Do colleges take that in consideration when applying?

Was it a mistake to transfer to the harder school?

I think it depends on where you want to go. I don't think it matters that much for most colleges. Just do what you can. Good night!

of COURSE they take high school rankings into account. These are college admissions people, they're not stupid. If you think about it, why do a lot of competitive children choose to go to harder, prep schools as opposed to a public school that may be easier? Because admissions take the rigorousness into account.

For example, I went to a hard, selective, all girls prep school w/ a good reputation. My grades weren't straight A, but I got into more selective schools than people I know who had better grades at easier schools w/ easier classes.
