I no longer can have any children. I am not ' fixed '. I am 40 yrs old. He is 42. He decided to get ' fixed '.
Why do you suppose after 19 yrs of marriage and the fact that I can no longer have kids, would he decide to get ' fixed ' ?

Please leave only decent comments. He's not messing around.

The best way to get to the bottom of it is to come out and ask him. Try to let him know that you will stand behind his decision, but you just want to know why. 19yrs of marriage, tells me that you both know how to talk things out.

He may have just a little fear that an accident could happen. It is not unheard of.

One thing to remember, we may not always understand our husbands reasons, but we love them so we will support them.

I have heard that a vasectomy helps with testicular cancer. You might want to research positives for getting a vasectomy.

Good luck. Cheers to 19 more wonderful years!

Well, I would say that sometimes things can slip through the cracks.
I know a couple, the man got fixed a few months later she fell pregnant he said thats not my child. She said yes it is. The test came back postive that it is his child. So now both of them are fixed.

I know you said he is not messing around but other then getting someone pregnant, there is no point in getting fixed. Since you are no longer able to, then I can only think of one thing. Also, maybe he did it as a precaution, just in case, somehow, something happens. I strongly suggest you speak with because this truly is odd. Just be open and talk about it.

I'm not being rude, but what makes you so sure he's NOT messing around? If you can't have kids, and you're his only sex partner, why would he feel the need to get "fixed"? Sorry, but being the suspicious type person I am, I'd have a few questions for him.

Well, what is the problem? He wants garantee of no more kids. I had a friend that got pregnant at 41 and didn't mean to. Your husband probably does not want to take any chances of that happening.

40 is not too old.....is he afraid you are trying to get pregnant? What birth control have you used till now?

If he is not getting fixed to not get you pregnant then he must be worried about getting someone pregnant....no one has the V for fun.

god only knows but maybe he doesn't want children at all by u or anyone else... you need to find out. if he does then go another route to have your babies...if he does want children then maybe there are deeper issue you both need to discuss.

Crazy things happen. If you know he's not messing around, then why not ask him what he's thinking.
