Okayy i am very very very pissed n very very very upset about my time trial today for cross country. a time trial is to see if u will make A team cross country, which is 7 girls out of 168 who tried out. The ppl who made A team gets really good sweats so they will get recognized n their picture will be in the year book. I didnt make it. im very dissappointed in myself, i kno i could of done soo much better. i just choked, i was really nervous n i have the cold [coughing] n it is a windy weather. which isnt a good mix with coughing.
Out of 168 girls i made 19th place. only top 7 would be A team. I HATE IT HATE IT!!We ran 1 mile n mii time was 8:26 n 19th place. Ppl say i did really good but i still feel very upset n bad. i mean i dont ever do sports, n this is the year where i am most active.mii frnds say i did GREAT for a person who doesnt do sports, bc the ppl who beat me is doing soccer n had more experience of running in their life. n plus i make straight A's,i still feel very bad

O Henry said, "The contest is not always to the strongest, nor the contest to the swiftest - but that's the way to place your bet."
2 things to consider here -
First, an 8-1/2 minute mile is pretty darned good. That's about 7 miles an hour. If you were having breathing problems, it makes it an even better result. If you want to practice and do better for next time, concentrate on breathing and pacing yourself.
Second, we can't all be winners at everything. I'd rather have brains than muscles, althoug the 2 are not always mutually exclusive. Be proud of how you did, especially against experienced, practiced competitors. If you want to make this team, as your goal, work on what you need to to get it next year. Recognize that unlike brains, muscles have to be earned.
Finally, don't be a straight-A student who placed almost in the top 10% in an athletic contest (without much practice, while ill), and then be so down on yourself. I'd say that's pretty darned good.
Good luck next year!

This is what i say do:
Train, start doing more sports get a little more active. Run with your friends over the weekend or after school. Don't yourself down. You really did do good for this to be your first time. You see the obvious reason why the top 7 were who they were. They stay active. If you do the same and try out again then you could get closer to being at the top

Honey, don't be so hard on your self. You were sick and you didn't feel well. I understand how you feel. I do sports and i didn't make it into the volleyball team. And that's a sport I play a lot. You just have to try out for different things. I tried out for company and I didn't expect to make it, but I did. So now I'm the girl who thought she would make it into volleyball and didn't and tried out for company, thinking she wouldn't make it, and made it in. You have to experiment. How it works out for you!

Wow. If you have 168 girls going out for CC in 7th grade, your school must be MONSTROUSLY big. And it seems like they'd be picking more than 7 girls.
