My boyfriend got a 31 on the ACT on his first try. That's pretty good, right? I'm in SAT territory so I don't know much about the ACTs. Thanks guys. ;)

Hey sorry anonymous, I'm not trying to brag, I just don't know. I wanted to get the opinions of real people rather than some 'official scale'! Like I said, I am in SAT territory! I know nada, zilch, nothing about the ACT.

You really can't do anything on this board without being criticized for it... :(

Way to brag . . . .

If you honestly don't know, the scale is published on the ACT website somewhere.

Edit:

The scale is more definitive than anything we can tell you here. But if you really want my opinion about it, I have to tell you it's good. Your BF scored better than at least 90% of the people who took the test, probably more like 95%. Now from my experience and asking around, most people don't do that well on their first try.

Now, I can also tell you this: the later one takes the test, the more highly one tends to score on it. It's designed primarily for high school students of a certain age, and most people get a little more skilled as they go through high school.

But I didn't say anything wrong here. Your question really does sound like it could have been written by a bragger, and I wasn't trying to insult you or anything by pointing that out. Maybe you should try the search engine or Wikipedia before inquiring as to the opinions of real people.

Trust me, some people DO write questions like that to brag. Why they'd want to brag to people they'll never see remains a mystery to me. It doesn't make the world a better place or anything, and I don't see how it can make them feel better about themselves. Good night!

It's pretty good. If you use a converter score scale for SAT/ACT, a 31 goes around a 1400 SAT equilvent for just math and verbal.
