The alcohol burns off, it's okay. Even an occasional glass of wine won't hurt your baby.

ALCOHOL AND COOKING

Wine, beer, and distilled spirits can add flavor, tenderness, and texture to the foods you prepare. Some of the alcohol burns off or evaporates during cooking. A flamed dish (flambé), for example, retains up to 75% of its alcohol content. On the other hand, only 35% of the alcohol remains in food that has been baked for 30 minutes. Longer cooking usually reduces the alcohol content further.

The total amount of alcohol left depends on how long the dish was cooked, the preparation method used, and the amount of distilled spirits, wine, or beer used. Since most recipes do not contain much alcohol, the amount remaining should not pose any health concerns.

Regular table wine may be more flavorful than cooking wine, which is usually high in sodium.

Gahhh.... You're Italian, phone the relatives in your ancestral land and ask how they lived...

The whole "don't drink and pop'em" movement has blown this all out of proportion. Even worse than the second-hand smoke debate.

Alcohol is harmless in minor doses. The whole of Europe got by on the idea that wine with every family meal, no matter what mama's condition, was OK. There were no ill effects.

This is America, land of shooters, binge drinking, frat parties, Brit and Paris out on the town, and drunks being "funny" whether it's WC Fields, or the movie Arthur, or any cheap comedian.

FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) is a result of damage to the fetal brain from repeated overindulgence by the mother. We're not talking a drink or two, or coq au vin - we're talking Sunday hangovers, driving the porcelain bus, passing out - that level of drunk!

A small glass of wine every other dinner will NOT harm junior.

Yeah use a cooking wine! I'm sure wine is fine to cook with since the alcohol pretty much dies anyway with the heat

yea you can cook with wine. The alcohol cooks out of it and just leaves the flavor.

The alcohol cooks off and only the flavor is left. Enjoy!

Yes, the heat evaporates the alcohol and you're just left with the flavour, which is what you want! Kudos for being concerned anyways, you'll be a good mommy.

Yes, once at boiling temperature, the alcohol in the whine is removed and therefore no longer a threat to you or your child's health

when you cook alcohol it's burns off the alcohol, so you should be fine.

It's like making beer bread or sauce with beer and it's ok to feed to kids.
