Consuming 1-2 caffinated drinks a day DOES NOT increase your chancecs of miscarraige in the least bit. It causes no harm to a baby.
In order for a baby to have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, the mother would ahve to drink about 6 drinks a day almost every day.
I really wish mothers would do proper research before judging other mothers.

Well, in all honestly, there are a lot of things women shouldn't do, even while NOT pregnant, that are being listed. I hate to tell you this, but caffeine does absolutely nothing positive for your body or your child's. And caffeine has been linked to a lot of negative conditions in adults - why do we think it won't indirectly harm a fetus?
Oh yes - and it's addictive. So why drink something you're prone to want to drink more of when it's something that can harm your child? Wouldn't you rather just spare yourself that kind of torture, and not drink it in the first place? You'll experience some withdrawal, but perhaps by the time your pregnancy is over, you'll see how much more alert, overall energetic, and improved its lack can make you. Then, when you're busy trying to take care of a newborn, you aren't consuming something that, in reality, DOES make you more tired in the long run (even if it gives you a temporary energy boost).
I would never confront a woman about it directly - it's not my body or my child. It's rude. But will I be consuming those things when pregnant? Absolutely not - and if I'm not ready to make that sacrifice, I'm apparently not read to have children.

Don't - Smoke, drink, use drugs, or participate in contact sports (yes, some people may be laughing at that one but I've seen women on here asking if it would be okay to continue wrestling during pregnancy).
Do - Exercise, eat healthy, and try to avoid stress.
Personally, I still indulge in a caffeinated drink every once in a while or a sandwich made with lunch meat that hasn't been heated. I think that the baby will probably be much better off if Mom hasn't been completely stressed for the last 9 months about everything that she's not supposed to do. :)
Hope this helps.

Good lord, arent people preachy on here????
If it's your first child, i suuggest you go on a holiday before the baby comes. I had to work 6days a week until the day i delivered, but i've always regretted not taking a break beforehand, as i haven't had a break in the 3 years since his birth.
Also, take lots of photos, you feel fat and hideous now, but you'll look back at the photos and love them.
And learn how to smile politely and totally ignore people without kids that give you well-meaning but useless baby and parenting advice and demand you follow it.
Good luck!!!

Definitely no alcohol, no smoking, no drugs. Although I've known people who have done all three while they were pregnant, and the baby is fine, the point is -- its NOT good for the baby.
I don't see anything wrong with a little caffeine, though. I drink one soda, two at the very most. The rest of the time, I drink water.

Avoid teratogens like cigarette, alcohol, and drugs. These woud definitely harm the baby and would cause congenital defects. And of course, have a healthy lifestyle. This would include regular exercise (but not strenous) and eating the right food like fruits and vegetables, milk, adequate protein and carbohydrates. But don't eat too much. My teacher said it's a misconception that when your pregnant, you need to double you calorie intake. You can perhaps add about 300-500 cal in your diet, but not doubling your prepregnant calorie need. And of course, don't forget to visit your doctor for regular prenatal check ups. The first prenatal check up shoud be made as soon as you learned that your pregnant.

i joined a gym. i'm 18 weeks and i just got sick of weight gain (i was a few pounds overweight plus so sick in the first trimester that i didn't get out of bed). I feel sooo much better now! Moderate excersize helps with labor, too. BUT i was a horsebackriding instructor when i got pregnant and i had to quit. Getting kicked, jumping horses over four foot fences, that's a bit risky, you know?
a cup of coffee per day is the limit... moms also should not judge eachother!
Your OBGYN should tell you whats okay.
Obviously, alcohol is a big NO!

Women who are pregnant should do their own research and weigh the pros and cons.
I don't think there are any absolutes.
Take deli meat and listeria, yes there is a small risk -however there is a larger risk from malnutrition. So if all you want to eat is deli meat then it is probably worth the risk. If you couldn't care less if you ever had a ham sandwich go nuts.

I think women SHOULD eat Healthy, Exercise, and try to celebrate the Experience of being Pregnant. On the other hand- I think women SHOULD NOT -Smoke, Drink, or get stressed out worrying about how the Baby is going to turn out...
