Use a small, old scrap of cloth. Put Peanut Butter in the middle and tie it with a string. spread a little PB on the outside and tie it to the trigger mechanism of the trap. Since he cannot leave with it he will tug on it and you will find it there tomorrow. Place any traps along the edges of the surface not in the middle of the area. Also place them under the bottom drawers. Pull the drawer out and place the traps under them. The mice are using the whole cabinet not just the stove. Using live traps will do nothing unless you have a snake to feed. KILL 'EM!!!!

We had that problem because we live on a farm. What worked for us is a glue trap for a mouse. We put it on the back of the stove at night and when the lights were off it came out and got caught.
We also use mouse traps with peanut butter but they can actually walk on the trap and not set it off. I was shocked when I saw that. Good Luck.

YIKES!!

Mice will follow base boards from room to room. However, your "friend the mouse" seems to have taken up residence inside your stove. It's attracted to something in the area.

If you have pets in your home and put dry food and water in kitchen that may be the attraction. Know it was for our "sneaky Pete" we had one year.

If you haven't, I would set live trap behind stove. Your "friend the mouse" is probably getting into oven from behind the stove. Could also set live trap behind refrig. That's where out "sneaky Pete" set up it's condo. Hart cat food and water was just across from condo.

Just arrived back home after a four hour drive and what do I walk into, you guessed it - - - "sneaky Pete" was eating from my cats hard food dish. To add insult to injury, "Kitty" was haunched down watching "sneaky Pete" have it's lunch. Of course "sneaky Peter" had to have a little drink of water so moved to water dish. "Sneaky" then took off and got as far as stove (next to refrig) and Kitty had it by one nail looking up at me as if to say, "so, what do you want me to do next?" As I stood there thinking (if you want to call it that), Kitty let it go.

Turned around, out to garage, got back into car and drove back 4 hours to former city we lived in and waited for husband to get the chance to come back with me. Husband moved refrig out and sure enough "Sneaky" was there with husband trying to catch mouse and told me to bring Kitty. Between the both of them, "Sneaky" lost the battle. Kitty actually caught and husband took the bounty and got rid of the "Sneak."

So, continue to set the live traps where I said above and you might as well put one in oven. Wouldn't be surprised if your "friend the mouse" has already started to nest as "Sneaky Pete" did.

If you don't have a cat, get one or ask someone for a loan of there cat. Wouldn't hurt to try. What Kitty was doing was playing "cat and mouse." Check your foundation for any warm air, because that's what mice look for.

Good luck with your "mouse games." Sorry my book took so long. Will never forget that.

Sprinkle peppermint oil around inside your oven, put some on cotton balls and put in the drawer underneath the oven, and behind the stove.
Mice don't like the smell of peppermint, but it will give your home a Christmasy smell!!!!
Peppermint of any kind, the oil based candy flavor stuff , the water based type in the spices section, essential oils... they all work!

Lift the top and put down one of those glue traps. Be sure not to use it until removed because they are made of cardboard.
