i want to make my leopard gecko a custom hut to go into his cage because the ones at the petstore never fit right and don't blend in with the rest of the decor. does anybody know how i should go about this? should I use clay, terra cotta, or plastics? after I choose a material that's pet friendly, how do I make the hut. thanks in advance. and a good plastics website i found is tapplastics.com if plastics are the way to go, because then i need to know what kind of plastic

In the most immediate sense; I can relate. I shopped "Houses" for my Corn Snakes, and not only found them way over priced; but most too small. Obviously your pet will not grow like a Snake, but initially all I did was get a plastic cereal bowl and cut an arched opening; then flipped it upside down in the aquarium. They seemed OK with that. The larger one now is way happy with a 3 inch ID. PVC elbow.

Obviously you have some aesthetics in mind; though the Gecko won't mind anything. Food friendly plastics are fine; but without knowing your design notions; Red Clay would work as well. Just get a small amount and make a "pinch/punch" pot; with access; let it dry, and flip it over.

Most items as such; sold today are molded/ colored/ resin; a bit much for a DIY and a Gecko.

I wish you well.

There are many ways to go about doing this.
PVC pipe, 6 inches long, 2 inch pipe, sand any sharp edges smooth with sand paper or a good nail file...Silicone stones and pebbles on the outside to match the habitat decor.
Cut a coconut in half, clean out the meat, if mold on natural items in the tank is a problem... high humidity, boil it in sea salt water for 10 minutes (a hermit crab trick :)... you can drill an entrance hole or not.
A terra cotta clay planters pot, plain or decorated with siliconed on stones, driftwood, plastic plants.
Flagstone pieces, either stacked sturdily or siliconed together to make a house.
A toad hut in the garden dept. of wally world or $ general (might have to wait til spring for that one).
Twigs, hot glued or siliconed together will make a cool log cabin.
I hope thats enough to get you started!!!

that's a male lizard, because of the crimson neck, besides the undeniable fact that I recommend letting it return to the wild. in case you discovered it in florida that's maximum probable a green anole, that are very powerful little adult males around your backyard, and that i'm bowled over you haven't any longer seen greater around your pool area. yet once you somewhat would desire to wish it replaced right into a puppy, you'll want a ten gallon tank, a warmth lamp, a heating pad, a heating rock, a water dish, some soil floor *sand works too*, and numerous mountaineering products are they are arborious. I want you luck on making a good determination, and please till now you ensure to maintain ANY reptile that replaced into born into the wild, ensure you have each and all of the suitable lodging. P.S. They consume approximately 2-thrice a week, 2 dozen super crickets.
