y = x^(- 7)
dy/dx = (- 7) x^( - 8 )
dy/dx = (- 7) / x^8

1/x^7 = x^(-7)

so dy/dx = -7 * x^(-8) = -7 / x^8

Rewrite this using a negative exponent:

y = x^(-7)

now use the power rule:

y' = -7x^(-8)
