Why on earth are even newer Smart cars fitted with a cassette player?

The reason is that the people who can afford to pay cash for those cars own alot of music still on cassette tape. If they could figure out how to make a turntable work in a car, they would put them in too.

IF this is the case then then I am surprised

I guess not enough people have raised this point with Smart / not enough people have said " I am not buying this because I want a CD player"

The Smart does not have direct competition with a similar sized car-- unlike e.g. Honda Jazz-- so the manufacturer can get away with not fitting a CD player

If you want a car this size, you have no other choice

My 2006 came with a CD player as standard equipment. I've never seen or heard of one with a cassette player.

This is common wiv most car companies now, as they're in competition... "Trying 2 buy Customers", wen I had a car many years ago, I used 2 change over my cassette player 2 a more modern one.

Sometimes wen u sell ur car u can get more money 4 it than u normally wud just 4 havin a decent sound system...

Because the smart cars are sooo expensive and the cassette players are cheap and now i-pods can use adapters with 'em??

I had a 2004 Smart back when I lived in the UK. That had a CD player as standard.

well to put it this way i would rather have the smart car cassette player than have the smart car they are just horribile
