I do that sometimes.

I know these seem stupid, but they caused me to lose sleep at night. There's nothing I could do now to change things, and it wouldn't matter anyway because they aren't that big a deal in the big scheme of things, but...here goes:

I was telling a client a personal story about another client once, and it turns out they knew each other. I know I shouldn't have been talking about my client, but it seemed an appropriate example in that situation - except that the client I was talking to already knew the story. Neither ever came back.

I went to a really fancy wedding as somebody's +1, but even though it was fancy in location and ceremony I wasn't informed it was casual dress for everybody not in the wedding party. I didn't have money to buy a different nice dress, so I showed up in the only fancy dress I had - cream colored and spaghetti strapped - with my hair all piled on top of my head. I thought the cream would be overlooked if everyone was dressed fancy, but with everybody else in jeans, it looked like I was trying to show up the bride. I spent the entire wedding in my date's leather jacket, and it was an all day event. I looked really good, but I still can't stand to look at the pictures. That was five years ago, and I'm sure nobody remembers it, but I start sweating and get all prickly when I think about it.

I tell myself it isn't worth it, and it doesn't matter, but I can't help how I feel. It does get better with time though. Like...a lot of time. But it's definitely not as intense as it used to be.

Just remember that it doesn't determine who you are, and at least you learned something from the experience. It will get better.

Of course. Its called remorse and regrets. If you don't have them your likely overly religious or a sociopath, or a religious sociopath.
