It is so confusing to me, i don't know what the heck is going on!

Yes, well, as the characters explain when they interrupt the rehearsal that is going on, they were created and then the playwright did not finish the play and they were there to do so, which they do, performing a truly disturbing story. Pirandello's theatre was based on the idea that reality only exists in the individual's mind and is quite different from person to person. He may have had a point, just look at the difference in what Americans think reality is compared to what Iran or Colombia or Bin Laden think reality is. They are all quite different.

The strange and wonderful premise of the play is that fictional characters take on a true existence once the author creates them, that they are "real." Once you grasp the idea that these characters can walk into a theater and talk to the actors in genuine flesh-and-blood guise, the play should begin to make sense.
