You can walk 15 min from Caltrain at 4th/King St to Union sq or SF shopping center.
Take either bus #30 or trolley T or N and get off powell station.

You don't need to take a bus. The light rail is more comfortable and usually faster.

- From the Caltrain depot, transfer to the N or T lines.

- Be careful to board on the "Downtown / Inbound" platforms only. If you go in the other direction, you'll hit Bayview and Hunter's Point (ghetto).

- Get off at the Powell Street station. Follow the signs to the "Union Square" exit for Macy's, Barneys, Tiffany and Co, Saks, and Neiman Marcus.

The basement of Bloomingdales and Nordstrom is connected directly to the subway station.

Take Caltrain northbound to its last stop. Transfer to the J Muni line ($1.50) and get off at Powell (about 10 minutes).
