Not really...
Snowboarding apparel has different features, because snowboarders CAN spend lots of times sitting around in the snow. Snowboarder jackets usually have a longer "bum flap" on the coat as well as a 'snowskirt' inside the coat (it's this thing inside the jacket that you button up and it keeps the snow from going up your jacket - super handy if you're prone to falling. A couple years ago, snowboarder pants were super baggy and skier pants were tighter - but people are moving away from the tighter pants... Boarder pants also have extra warming in the bum...
The 'snowboarder' look has been adopted by skiers. Theoretically skiers don't get to roll in snow and park their bums in the middle of the ski hills, hence why ski jackets were traditionally shorter.
So that's me rambling. To answer your question, they are different. But, lots of the younger skiers have migrated towards the more trendy look that snowboarders get... Older skiers haven't quite taken a hint and you can still see many of them donning the traditional flourescent one-piece ski suits... http://www.svguide.com/w05/w05_skifashion6.jpg

Sorry Britt...I run a save that sells ski and snowboard equipment and that's certainly all the comparable element. categories look greater accepted for skiers than for snowboarders and vice versa yet there is amazingly little useful distinction. Yeah, some stuff would have a fuller or tighter shrink yet it is merely variety, extremely the only useful distinction between ski and snowboard outerwear is ski stuff in lots of cases has a bolstered area of tear resistant cloth on the indoors element of your ankles to maintain the ski edges from ripping your pants up (and how human beings ski now has replaced plenty it is rarely even a controversy, skiers are actually snowboarding with wider stances than they use to)....thats it. So, yeah. you ought to use despite floats your boat, my spouse is a skier and he or she rocks merely snowboard outerwear as she thinks the kinds are plenty greater effectual.

yes and no. i wear snowboard pants and snowboardish jacket as a skier. i just liked the type of pants really. however, I think that clothing for skiing is a bit more form fitting, less padding, and less bulky, snowboarders spend a lot of time sitting on the ground in the snow and they need more warmth and more padding than a skier does.
Also I find that snowboarding jackets are usually longer and have more elastic banding to keep snow out. the gloves are also way different. you have to cover your hands and basically any place that snow can get in your clothing.
though I think really it is entirely up to you what you want to wear.
