I requested with both of my children that I be induced, I had a lot of edema & ALOT of pain. Both doctors were hesitant to do so, I kept insisting that it was time. Finally the first time I refused to leave the office till he agreed to do it that day-he did. He used a something called Cervidil (I think that is how it is spelled?) with my first kid, that's all I needed I went in 1 centimeter dialated within 12 hours and 3 pushes in 15 minutes, i had a healthy baby boy at 37 weeks. 7lbs 9 oz
My daughter was born at 38 weeks , 1 centimeter dialated-they used the Cervidil & Pitosin that time, I told him it was happening and 2 pushes later, a healthy baby girl. 7 lbs 10 oz
I know that it is not common practice & there are risks involved, it is a decision you should discuss with your doctor, but be totally open about what's going on with you, you know when you're ready.
Good Luck-Have a safe & happy baby!!!!!

Whether you like it or not this baby will come when it's ready or if it's not likely to come on it's own the doctor will be ready for any other decisions that must be made. Find a baby book of names & try to figure what the best name would be suitable for the child and engage your spouse in this as there are thousands of names to chose from. A name the child will like with maybe an alternative name in case the child wants to have another name later. Children can have lots of names - look at Royalty. It doesn't sound like you have to wait much longer and we all feel that way prior to the birth.

Don't induce. The last few weeks are tough, but your babe deserves to decide the timing for entering the world.
I found soaking in a swimming pool UBER relaxing. It takes the weight off and you feel normal again. It will refresh you many hours after the pool too. hang in there NOBODY stays pregnant forever.
Also, it doesn't really matter how much you are dialated, that varies from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnacy.

You are so close I would just wait at least 40 weeks. I went 41 and was HUGE and when I went in to be induced I was hardly dilated to 1! You need all the down time you can have now because once the baby comes you will be so tired. Your so close just hang in there!

My wife just went through the same thing ten weeks ago - she went almost two weeks late. I've heard chiropractic story tales of pressure points and such, but I think you need to let Mother Nature do her work. If you're hell bent on trying weird things, somebody told my wife that squeezing the area between the thumb and forefinger and rubbing back and forth will induce. Otherwise, do some heavy lifting and run up and down stairs. Of course, these things would probably come ill-advised by your physician, so I make no claim that they are the safest or wisest recommendations.

Hot curry, raspberry leaf tea, sex from behind(works every time), You could always ask for your midwife to do a cervical sweep i had that with my two and she burst my waters for me with one of them cervical sweeps are not that pleasent but they really start your contractions off i was determined have my two as quick as poss the first one took 8 hours and the second took under 4 hours try to just have gas and air and go in the bath or birthing pool other drugs slow it all down but you will have to put up with more pain but its worth it just think you'll soon be meeting your little Angel good luck and stay strong and in control of your birth what ever you decide good luck

Here's what I recommend:
a) quit being so selfish. This time is also supposed to be about your baby. Being pregnant is ideal for some girls: you gets tons of attention, you can sit around all day, and you get to eat three times as much and no one dares criticize you. Now that the fun has worn off and it is just plain work, you want out. Tough it out--no one said becoming a mom would be easy.
b) if you want to accelerate things, talk to a doctor, not a bunch of morons online. What do we know?

I've heard castor oil (the nastyness makes for big contractions)
ummm eggplant parmesean is another one
The fun way - Sex. There's something in semen that causes contractions...Sex also loosens you up and relaxing helps.
Walking walking walking...I took a few laps around the mall, had some sex, went to sleep and woke up in labor.
...you're SO close and I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!! Be strong lol
Bathtubs and Epidural all the way!!

Sex is healthy for you and the baby and helps induce labor, as well as inducing exercises that you can google and use an exercise ball to help you. But sometimes that doesnt do the final deed only helps, but it could help enough for your body to trigger a response and induce naturally. Good luck!
