i should be on my period, but i have dark brown blood. what could this be>?

I should have my period but instead i have really dark brown blood, i know its dry blood, but its been for 5 days and its only when i go to the bathroom. also its not heavy enough to be like a normal period. this is the first time i have ever had this.
I took 2 hpt .. both negative. would could this be?

if you have dark brown blood, you ARE on your period. You just probably haven't been drinking enough water so your blood isn't as red because it's been sitting in your uterus longer.

It's probably old blood. Sometimes not all the bleed from a period leaves your body. The month will then come out the next month. If you have your period it's probably not a big deal.

Its your period. If you are on the Birth Control Pill or Patch the change in hormones could be the reason your period looks different.
