Bush. That's not even debatable. The politicas of the Bush administration have--by their own admmission--been based on "wedge issues," on moral intimidation, and by appealing to and dividing groups within American society.
Hillary may not be a "great unifier"--in fact, I doubt it. But her campaign, platform, tactics, and rhetoric are first of all an appeal to the majority of Americans, and second are not designed to split people apart.
However--that being said, her candidacy will have one polarizing effect--becasue she represents (and is) anathema to the right--especially the religious right, it is likely to break open the breach between this marginal group and reveal how deep the divide between them and the other 90% of the American people really is. That, howeever, is all to the good. Unity--sought blindly--is not necessarily good. Making common cause with evil--or with a group such as the religious right, whose values and goals run contrary to American beliefs in personal freedom and rights--is NOT good.

I still don't think they can divide the nation as much as Abraham Lincoln. You know people called him a bad president in his days and now people call him one of the best. Of course I don't think the same will happen for GW or Clinton.

It will be Bush by far. Not for anything he has done, except run for President. Liberals hate him for taking "their" Presidency. Their hatred is stronger than I have ever seen in my life and I'm 52. Their hatred has made them goofy and keeps them from thinking clearly. I love Bush for that.

Neither .... it's all media play. I love my liberal friends. Two of my best friends from college are liberals. I couldn't disagree more with the above premise. I am a conservative, and resent people of any party that tell me what I should think.
It's the media's fault.

Ask a democrat. They are, and have been, the great polarizers.
They have been dividing this country for so many years it is not funny.
