What I mean is this - pharmacists are all armed with two 50 caliber Barettas (one in each hand) and trained to use them to prevent narcotics from getting out on the streets?

Considering that these weapons weigh from 22 to 30 pounds EACH, I question your reference...

And why can they not protect their premises?

About as frightened as I would be if you were in a position to actually make something like that happen. . .

I think the issue is the pharmacists getting paid to allow the drugs out of their pharmacy, so arming them isn't going to really change that at all.
