Hey. I have a cellphone that gets service from Verizon. For those of you who text, you know that in your outbox, once u send a message, there are a few different symbols that can appear near the top right side of the beginning of the text, i.e. a check or a little arrow thing. Well, how do you know if the person you've sent the text to has received it yet? More importanly, i'd like to know how you know if they've opened it and read it yet. Thanks.

I am always doing my texting to my boyfriend and we both have Verizon.... Thanks so much!!!

Hi, I'm a Verizon subscriber also and just like you I love text messaging. I can tell when my text message was received by going to my sent box highlight my message sent click options then message info. It should display the status of your message. I haven't found out a sure way to tell if the person I sent the text opened the message other than a response from the person. The check symbol let's you know your message was successfully sent and the arrow indicates your messages was incomplete for whatever reason. Your quite welcome have fun sending messages!

Go back to your sent message list and open the message you sent that you want to check. Click options. Select message info. There sould be a status line that tells you what hapened with the messasge. It may say sent (it was sent out but doesn't mean the other person got it) It may say success (it was sent successfully, recipient may have gotten it) It may say delivered (recipient got it). Depending on your phone it might give an error code in that section to let you know if there was a problem delivering it.

It probably depends on your phone, but when I send a message, in the outbox there is a picture of an envelope for each message. When another Verizon customer reads the message, there is a black check mark on the envelope.

As long as there is no red "i" next to the message, it's been sent properly.

the arrow means that its sent and the check mark means that they read it but only with verison customers the x means that it failed. but there will always be just an arrow with non-verison customers...
