Well im not sure if pocket presence is necessarily the best term. What i really mean is who has the best ability to scramble around and buy time in the pocket.

And dont say Tom Brady or peyton manning.. they dont need to know how to scramble because they both have great offensive lines that give them plenty of time..

Personally i am not sure who is quite the best but i think Ben Roethlisburger is at least one of the best.. i mean he always breaks tackles and buys time in the backfield.. it is crazy

Everyone who says Brady or Manning is correct.
The questioner still asks about the QB scrambling IN the pocket and Brady and Manning are the best at moving around IN the pocket and buying time.
If he were to ask who is the best QB out of the pocket it would not be Brady or Manning....

Pocket presence is sensing the pressure from the defense and Brady and Manning both are by far the best. Just simply stepping up in the pocket adds at least 1 second and those two guys are that much better with a minimal amount of added time to check their second and thrid looks downfield. You could have the best offensive line and no pocket presence and still be a bad QB.

I agree with those who say Brady and Manning - they are the best at just stepping up and not panicking. Young can scramble - that is different - I wouldn't call that pocket presence- his first thought is to run, not pass.

And, for the record, Romo does not have the same O-Line as Bledsoe (who wore cement shoes anyway) had. A guy by the name of Leonard Davis acquired via free agency this year, happens to be the best lineman in the NFL - he makes a BIG difference.

the answer is brady, hands down...

richard above me got it right ... pocket presence is not scrambling, which would be michael vick... pocket presence is staying calm under pressure as the pocket collapses and delivering the ball accurately despite the oncoming rush, no one is better than brady at staying calm and stepping up at the right moment...

"....dont say Tom Brady "

Why not? It's true .See MNF? No panic , and buys time where there doesn't seem to be any , despite being the self-proclaimed "Slowest QB in the NFL" . ;D

Well, its Tom Brady...but other than him...Call me nuts, but when he needs to, Brett Favre can get out of the pocket...Obviously, not quite as fast as some of the younger QBs but he still does it...

I would say Tony Romo is. Look what he's been able to do with the same offensive line as Drew Bledsoe, who was about as mobile as a signpost. He feels the rush pretty well and makes plays with his legs when needed. Big Ben is a good one also, he can break a tackle like no other QB, except maybe Vince Young. But Vince doesn't have the same downfield weapons as Roethlisberger so it's easier to zone in on him.
