I saw this story on Fox about 15 minutes ago...You could probably go to their site or maybe even NBC'S, I'm sure it's going to get along of coverage...also heard it on the radio earlier in my car and turned on the tv when I got home to see if anyone was talling about.

Actually they say it is too controversial, but they are running an ad by Danny Glover bashing Bush... I guess that wasn't too controversial!

Why am I not surprised at NBC's action, or lack thereof. I've been boycotting NBC, CBS, ABC and CNN for years. No time to stop now, especially since my son spent two years over in Kuwait and Iraq and Syria in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He's home now after a four year stint in the Army. Oh, and you might want to know that Starbucks coffee refused to give our troops any discount on coffee since they expressly oppose the war in Iraq. I'm glad my son helped them keep the freedom they have to complain about his actions. I've boycotted Starbucks ever since I found out, over a year ago. God Bless you.

I'm really surprised to hear that because I usually watch the NBC channels for the news on TV, and they always seem to be supportive of the troops. Perhaps they had a reason not to air that particular commercial, which had nothing to do with any prejudice or dislike of the Armed Forces. Before boycotting, I might suggest that you contact the channel and ask them to explain why they refused. I'm certain it was for a legitimate reason, such as other programming, lack of time, etc.

Are you actually shocked by this. NBC, like CBS & ABC are very biased and controlled by the extreme American hating left. These former hippies (red diaper doper babies) would never thank a soldier for allowing them their freedom and their first ammendent right to free speech. I am glad you are furious over this, we should all be, it is disgusting behaviour.

NBC decided - or was persuaded?
Any soldier in my eyes deserves recognition for service, but it is a lousy government that lets the troops down.
The UK is as corrupt as any other country. We all want oil.
Somehow the balance has gone wrong between the have gots and the I wants.
I for one am grateful, and I hope I speak for many, for the efforts that our soldiers have made..
As a gesture for Christmas, is there any chance of a little friendly fire and blowing up no10 Downing Street? LOL
i AM KIDDING BTW.
Yours since early

Are you sure you heard this correctly? This doesn't sound right for a major network. For them to simply refuse doesn't make sense. There must be more to the story.

It's not a slam to the troops...the commercials that they were asked to air violate their policy. Thank heaven some networks still have them. I doubt this is the entirety of the story, but it does sound like there are two side.

I am boycotting NBC. I am sick of the obvious liberal bias in our media. They are worse than the Islamic radicals. At least they make it very clear they want to kill freedom.
For those of you saying you didn't know about it, it is obvious you only look at the main stream media.
I read it on the drudge report.

I hadn't heard of this, do you have a link to an article online?
EDIT* hey people, this article says that NBC DOESN'T have a problem with the ad content, but with the url address included in the add.

They refused because the ad contained the web address of the organization who made the ad.
This from the head of standards and practices:
“This particular ad, in and of itself, is fine. It thanks the troops for their action overseas. We asked them to eliminate a URL address where a person is asked to contact elected officials and told not to cut and run on the war on terror.”
He suggested that Freedom's Watch did not alter the ad in order to force NBC to reject it and thus get media attention.
And it's working, isn't it?
